Working Together for a Brighter Future

For over 100 years, a natural gas power plant has operated along the Redondo Beach waterfront adjacent to the harbor, providing a reliable source of electricity to residents and the region. Now there is an opportunity to revitalize the city’s harbor area by pursuing non-industrial alternatives for the property.

AES and the City of Redondo Beach have sent a joint letter to the California Energy Commission –– agreeing to suspend AES Southland’s application to build a new, smaller plant.

As part of the agreement, AES is currently searching for a third-party or partner to develop the 50-acre site for non-industrial use –– moving forward with our mission to make Redondo Beach a better place.
