President, AES Southland
Jennifer Didlo's appointment as President of AES Southland is the culmination of over 20 years of operational leadership experience in power generation, including 15 years in Southern California. In addition to her current responsibilities as President, she will now oversee wind assets in Palm Springs, Tehachapi, Oregon, and Wyoming.
For the past three years, she has led the business development effort for the AES Southland redevelopment projects, directing the engineering design, environmental and regulatory approvals and commercial plan for AES Alamitos, AES Redondo Beach and AES Huntington Beach.
Prior to her current role, Mrs. Didlo was president and plant manager of AES Deepwater. Jennifer joined in 1998 to support the purchase and transition of AES Southland from Southern California Edison. She was also the Plant Manager at AES Placerita.
Previously, Jennifer held Plant Manger, Supervisory and Engineering positions at Southern California Edison.
She holds a Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the California State University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University.
Director of Business Development
Mr. Pendergraft is responsible for AES's business development activities in California, which include our modernizations plans for Southland. Prior to leading these efforts, he was the President for several years, and Plant Manager at AES Huntington Beach facility.
Eric joined in 1998 as part of the acquisition of AES Southland from Southern California Edison. He began his AES career as Project Manager at AES Alamitos generating station. He has also held positions as Control Room Team Leader at AES Alamitos, plant manager at AES Huntington Beach and Vice President of Regional Operations at AES Eletropaulo in Brazil.
Previously, Mr. Pendergraft held a number of different engineering and management positions at Southern California Edison.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is registered professional engineer in the State of California.
Director Government & Regulatory Affairs, AES Southland
As Director of Government & Regulatory Affairs, Ms. Gill is responsible for managing AES´ State Government and Regulatory Affairs, focusing on environmental, legislative and public affairs issues. Ms. Gill also works with the AES California plant managers and assist in fostering their relationship with the local government and community at large.
Ms. Gill joined AES in 2007 after more than nine years at the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). During her tenure with CAISO, Ms. Gill negotiated with new Participating Transmission Owners as they joined the ISO, managed the alternative dispute resolution process and administered Reliability Must Run Agreements. Ms. Gill was involved in the legislative review of AB32 and other GHG regulations. Most recently, in her capacity as an External Affairs Manager with CAISO’s Government Affairs division, Ms. Gill led the new stakeholder initiative on the reliability need for Aging Power Plants and Once-Through-Cooled generating units.
Ms. Gill is a graduate of McGeorge School of Law and California State University, Chico.
Southland Operations and Maintenance Manager, Site Leader at AES Huntington Beach
Weikko Wirta is the Southland Operations and Mainte
nance Manager and Site leader at AES Huntington Beach. Prior to his current role, Mr. Wirta was Plant Manager of AES Huntington Beach. He has also worked as a Project Manager with AES North American Engineering
Group, providing SAP and technological support. Mr. Wirta joined AES in 1988 as a member of the AES Thames commissioning team. He has also held positions as plant engineer and Boiler and Engineering Superintendent.
Previously, Mr. Wirta completed the General Dynamics Career Development Engineering Program and worked as a Machinist Supervisor at Electric Boat in Ct.
He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a licensed U.S. Merchant Marine Officer and Retired Naval Reserve Officer. He is on the Board of Directors of the Orange County YMCA, where he is the Chair of the Facilities and Capital Committee, as well as a member of the Leadership Development Committee.
Director of Sustainability and Regulatory Compliance, AES US West
Stephen O'Kane is the Director of Sustainability and Regulatory Compliance for AES US West. He is responsible for the permitting and regulatory approval process for the AES Southland development projects and is leading the effort to ensure sustainable and environmentally responsible operations, while maintaining compliance with all environmental and electrical reliability regulations and standards.
Prior to joining AES he was a consultant to the power and energy industry for over 15 years working on projects for government, private industry and non-governmental organizations around the world. He holds a Master of Science degree and is an expert in environmental, air quality and energy related issues.
Site Leader, AES Alamitos
Jeff Evans is the Site leader at AES Alamitos, responsible for safe, responsible and reliable plant operation through oversight and direction of all operations and maintenance activities. Previously, Mr. Evans was an Asset Reliability Manager with the AES North America Operational Performance Group. He has over 25 years of experience in maintenance, operations, and management of power generating facilities. Mr. Evans has also held Project Management positions for AES, responsible for Major Maintenance of Steam Turbines across North America and Internationally.
Prior to joining AES in 2000, Mr. Evans spent 14 years working in various Operations and Maintenance Positions for Southern California Edison.
